BESSE HISTORIC CONSERVATION AREA, Wayne (F) The Besse Historic Conservation Area is a 55-acre forest preserve with 0.3 miles of access along the Old Winthrop Road. The preserve includes an easily accessible 0.4 acre vernal pool.

Access: No marked trails, but easy access from the road – look for KLT boundary markers. Vernal pool access: from telephone pole #31 along the Old Winthrop Rd, go north 300 yards into the woods. Take Rt 133 to Wayne. Turn south onto the Old Winthrop Rd and go 0.7 miles to a fork. Bear left and continue 0.3 miles to wooden KLT sign on the left.
