Mathews Wildlife Habitat
MATHEWS WILDLIFE HABITAT, Fayette (F) These 17 acres of scenic woods and fields are conserved primarily as wildlife habitat and open space. A large sugar maple distinguishes the property, and nearby are a memorial stone and bench. Massive stone walls surround the property. The fall color display makes this a great autumn destination. Access: There are no marked trails, but it is a wonderful place to walk, ski or snowshoe. Traveling west on Rt 17, continue 1.1 mi past Kents Hill School. Look for a wide opening in the stone wall on the south side of the road. There is a post in the field with a stone plaque. Park along the shoulder of Rt 17. |
