Wakefield Wildlife Sanctuary & Historic Cabins in West Gardiner, Maine
In November 2016 the Wakefield Wildlife Sanctuary was generously bequeathed to the Kennebec Land Trust upon owner Kendra Wakefield Shaw’s passing. Its 115 acres feature four one hundred year old cabins and 4,000 feet of frontage on beautiful Cobbossee Stream in West Gardiner, Maine.
To date, KLT has restored two of the historic camps. These cabins will be available as rentals for KLT members and the community and will be used for future education programs, including workshops with guest artists, writers, and scientists.
The long term maintenance of the Wakefield Wildlife Sanctuary will require funds in addition to the cabin rental fees. Your donation will support the Kennebec Land Trust and will help us meet our goals to: protect wildlife habitat and water quality, provide low-impact recreation opportunities, and preserve local heritage and culture.
All donors will receive a complimentary membership to KLT. We also welcome donations to:
