Dead River Delta Conservation Area

Location and Description:

Location: Leeds, ME

Property Description: Adjacent to the Dead River, this hardwood floodplain forest is part of Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife’s Androscoggin Lake Focus Area of Statewide Ecological Significance. This land, long valued for its cultural significance, protects a diverse assemblage of plant species, water quality in Androscoggin Lake and the Dead River, and valuable wildlife habitat.

Directions: From Route 219 in Leeds, turn south on Route 106 and travel 1.7 mile. Look for KLT signs and small road entrance on the left side (east) of the road. Please park in front of the gate. 

Usage and Trails:

Allowable uses: Nature observation and hunting. No designated hiking trails. No motorized vehicles. Dogs are allowed on leash or under voice command. Trails are not currently planned for this location—this is an informal access for bushwhacking only. No commercial harvesting of mushrooms, berries & plants.
