Join Robin Miller for a mini-hike to the foot of the east face of Howard Hill to enjoy a pop-up spectacular view of the State House and surroundings FROM Howard Hill. Participants may choose to stay right there and paint or sketch, while others can have the option to hike on up the east face via an old - and rutted - logging path. There are rocky outcroppings on the right and sloping pine forests with beams of sunlight on the left. At the top of the ridge is a wider path with boulders, trees, and stippled sunlight. Entrance to this east side of Howard Hill is from the top of Blaisdell. Meet at 2pm at 23 Blaisdell Street, the tan house nearly at the top on the right. You may park here and access facilities if needed. Additional times possible by appointment, weekends only. Call Robin at 622-6298 for more information
Registration in advance is required for all hikes on the Howard Hill property. Until KLT’s acquisition of Howard Hill is completed in the fall of 2015, the property remains in private hands and is not open for public use. The current landowner has granted KLT permission to host a limited number of guided visits to help build the support necessary to successfully complete this important conservation initiative.
