Howard Hill Historical Park Property Dedication

Judy Camuso, Commissioner, Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife; Howard Lake, KLT Director; Bill Bridgeo, Augusta City Manager; Augusta Mayor Dave Rollins; and Andrew Silsby, President of Kennebec Savings Bank, will provide remarks at 4:00 p.m. at the historic Gannett treehouse overlook. Please allow plenty of time to reach the overlook from the trailheads. See schedule below:

· 3:00 p.m. Option 1, arrive at Sewall Street trailhead.

· 3:30 p.m. Option 2 & 3, arrive at Stevens Commons or Ganneston Drive trailheads. Volunteers will greet you and lead group to the overlook.

· 4:00 p.m. Remarks begin at the overlook

· 4:30 p.m. Refreshments. 

· 6:04 p.m. Sunset. Please be off trail before dark.

Volunteers will greet guests at three trailheads:

Stevens Commons/Effie L. Berry Conservation Area trailhead in Hallowell: 0.6 mile walk through the Park to the overlook, group departs at 3:30 p.m. In some places the trail has rocky and uneven surfaces. Sturdy shoes recommended. The walk takes 15-20 minutes.

Sewall Street directly opposite Brooklawn Avenue: 0.8 mile walk (steep, uphill section) to the overlook, group departs at 3:00 p.m. Wear sturdy shoes for hiking.

Preference for special needs parking is on Ganneston Drive: travel to the end of Ganneston Drive, park alongside road, please be respectful of neighboring driveways. 0.4 mile walk to overlook, gentle terrain.
